As more “please visit us at market” emails come from prospective wholesale vendors this week, I am reflecting on the awesome “market” trips that Janice and I have made already, and will continue!
When we first started talking about our shop, we knew we were either going to procure items through local finds, or consignment. There was no discussion about buying retail. Then I got wind of a few farmhouse and rustic-like wholesalers that have enormous catalogs and feature their items at the Atlanta or Dallas market.
I signed us up as wholesale buyers, but the more we talked about it, the more resolute we have become in not purchasing items in quantity outside of the Missouri/Illinois area. We didn’t want to see our items at every local boutique or gift shop in the area. We wanted our customers to come in and find the perfect, unique item that will complement their own décor.
We also wanted to save you the trip to Potosi, or Bourbon, or Taylorville, or Rosebud and allow us to find incredible bargains on awesome furniture silhouettes or “set arounds” as we call them – passing the savings of a gently loved item on to you. If you see a MUDPIE or other quantity-sold item, it was because we found it (ONE) on our excursions. This weekend we are road-tripping again, filling the van with some beautiful bargains, of which hopefully most will end up at Princeton Heights Marketplace….there are always those empty spaces at my place that could use some freshening up as well!
And while you are patiently waiting, if we could be so shameless as to ask you to nominate Princeton Heights Marketplace as your favorite Vintage/Consignment shop on the St. Louis A List, we would be eternally grateful!
Our one of a kind boutique will gain momentum the more we get our name out there. With your help, we can be successful! Please take a moment to vote for your favorites, in all categories and get a chance to win a $100 restaurant gift certificate!
Thank you and see you on January 31st!!
